She received her Ph. D. in neuropharmacology from Antwerp University Belgium in 1998 and after postdoctoral training in Canada and further training in the University of Southern California, she joined the faculty at UMMC as an assistant professor in January 2007 At UMMC, she taught lectures in the courses of Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience. CNS Pharmacology and Neurophysiology for the Graduate Program in Neuroscience. Her research focused on candidate protein(s)-mediated molecular pathways relevant to neuropsychiatric disorders. She was a member of five societies including the Research Society on Alcoholism and the Society of Biological Psychiatry, and she served on the editorial board of Drug Discoveries e berapeutics and Frontiers in Neuroscience. During the past five years, her research was supported by the Brain Behavior Research Foundation (NARSAD), Center for Psychiatric Neuroscience (NIH) and UMMC intramu ral funding. She was the author of 35 peer-reviewed publications aRt was funded by the NIAAA/NIH at the time of her death
